YOUR ENAMEL CAN BE FATTENING YOU WITHOUT YOU REALIZING: STUDY EXPLAINS WHY

The glaze you use and weight gain may be more related than you might think. At least that's what says a recent study published by Duke University in the United States. According to researchers, a substance present in most nail polishes are linked to their hormones.

The chemical in question is called triphenylphosphite phosphate and, in glazes is used to provide durability and flexibility. The problem is that the compound was found in the body of all the female volunteers in the study, which showed an amount seven times higher than normal in the body.

Substance found in the enamel is related to obesity, say scientists
The problem is that excess substance that alters hormone organization and can lead to weight gain and affect the neurological development, and even the rate of growth at puberty.

According to co-author, Kate Hoffman, this finding indicates a need to reform laws concerning the sale of comésticos. "We need to make sure that all components are safe before putting them on sale and expose the body of the people to them," he warns.

The triphenylphosphite phosphate, also called TPHP or triphenylphosphate was found at about 1500 3000 enamels tested in the study. At first, the recommendation is to check the package label and avoid products containing the substance.
